the new face of london beach resort

The sea  was  calm and transparent. It was clean I could not see any traces of dirt.Although it was a cold morning,I did not hesitate to dip in the clear  water and  swam carelessly.Swimming is a good form of exercise so I tried to stretch my arms and legs, barely catching  my breath.Ahhh!.It was refreshing. It was  good to be back in London..London Beach Resort in Cabu,Tambler,General Santos City.

Having recently returned to London Beach after a period of seventeen years,a resounding-yes, there is-inspite of  the fact that I concur: it's still the best  beach in the city .Why?Because of it's white, fine  sand although it's just  transported  from  Gumasa,Glan,Sarangani Province. But  it's pretty  cool as if  it's original.Who would ever question anyway?

London  Beach  is more lively this time because  the kiosks and swimming  pools are  newly  painted. The colors are festive . But the original structures  are  still  there like the canteen, baketball  court and cottages.   More  kiosks are added to accomodate  more  beach - goers.

My memorable experience of London Beach was right here in this pool area sometime in January,1992 during a Swimsuit  Competition .(Nowadays, it is called Bikini Open)

No, I did not  joined in the ramp.I was a  talent scout and  make up artist. That time,I was a beginner in that  field.I jumped for joy when my candidate ended as second runner- up.To my delight,I treated my friends to a night swimming.I could not forget this lone family- size cottage near the sea where diving was just easy.

London Beach is originally owned  by the Pontino Family but sold it .If I was not mistaken,it is the first descent  beach in Gensan  in the  early  90's.Now London Beach ,under new mangement ,is in full blast  with it's operation.Since  May,this year, promotional  gigs and events have already been transpired  like Acoustic Night,Bikini Open,Disco  Party ,Foam party,Live Bands and others. New  services is also  offered like this.

You can have an overnight stay  at their  air-conditioned executive cottages with  your family, friends or lover for only P1200. per night.

Or make use of the conference room  for business meeting.

Rates  are  affordable.Refer to this.

Oh, shall  we go to London?

Pouch for a cause

colorful and stylish pouches(Photo  grabbed  from Gensan  News Online Mag)
This afternoon, I received one(the  color pink)) of those 8 limited edition pouches from Avel Manansala  as prize for one in  a  series of  four contests for the  4th  blogoversary  of  Gensan  News Online  Magazine.I find it very special because it is  designed by the noted designer  Rajo Laurel .Oh, em  gee!I may not afford his  designer clothes as Kris Aquino  can,at least, I have a pouch  designed  by him... for free!

This  unique pouch is an exclusive fashion collection  of Rags to Riches,Inc(RIIR)and being supported  by SMART.RIIR is a collaboration among some of the top designers like Rajo Laurel,Amina Aranas-Alunan and Oliver Tolentino and the  Payatas community.Together,  they create an exclusive selection of stylish social  statement.

It's not just  an ordinary product. It has also  a sentimental  value because  it is  handcrafted from recycled materials by a talented artisan from Payatas.By using this  product, you become an ambassador of eco-ethical fashion, environmental protection, and fair trade.Because  each piece is  a stylish social statement, each piece contributes to a greener and safer environment, and each piece is a gift of empowerment to  the  members of the Payatas  community as they  strive  to take bold steps toward improving their  quality   of life.

Through RIIR,SMART ,so  far, has supported over  54 empowered  women artisans from four  different communities in Payatas;upcycled 1.93 tons of fabric scraps from garments factories; benifited over 360  indirect beneficiaries;created greater social and environmental impact;and became an ambassador for Eco-Ethical Lifestyle and Sustainable Living.

It only  shows that we Filipinos are very creative to make fashionable products  out of recycled materials .Whoever exquisitely handcrafted this pouch, thanks to him or her.I will treasure this. Now,my  cellphone, camera(yes,it fits)  and memory card reader has an alternative storage. And of course, thanks to Kuya Avel  and  SMART.

jollibee drive -thru calumpang opens

I used to pass in that area everyday  in my way going home. The construction of the building was very fast.It  took  just 30 days to finish it.The lot owned by the Lorenzo  family  had been idle for many many years. But look at now, there stood a magnificent and enticing  building. The newest hangout in Barangay Calumpang and the seventh  Jollibee outlet in General Santos City:The Jollibee  Calumpang.

Jollibee Calumpang has a strategic location. It is located at national highway of  Barangay Calumpang ,adjacent to the new Rengel building in which popular businesses are also put up like Giacominos,Dunkin Donut,Denver drugs and Bull's Eye Internet  Cafe. It is  beside Rowell  Canning  Corporation and not so far from fishing industries including the Fish Port. The site is also  near Barangay Calumpang  Hall ,Antonio Acharon Sports Complex,Cahilsot Elementary School and Romana  Acharon Elementary School.I'm sure students and teachers of General Santos City High School are just delighted  because it is just a walking distance  from the school.

The opening day  of  Jollibee  Calumpang last October 30 was a crowd- drawer. As early as 5:30 in the morning, the place was already  jampacked with customers.Even before the opening day,500 pesos promo tickets were already sold out.Holders of those tickets entitled for the raffle draw in which  the major prize was a flat screen TV.Free Jollibee Umbrellas were also given to the first 200 dine-in and take -out customers with chickenjoy or chicken barbecue bucket purchases and to the first 200 drive-thru customers who purchased chickenjoy or chicken barbecue buckets.

My sister,niece and me

Soccsksargen Bloggers:Me,Marz,Avel,Yadu Karu and Nanardz

Children(and adult) enjoyed the program prepared  for them  and had the chance to meet the Jollitown  characters. There was a dance contest in the evening and a  mini concert featuring local bands of the city. The program ended at 12 midnight.

One thing  is sure, people  of Barangay Calumpang and nearby Barangays like Fatima,Tambler  and Labangal(and walk-in customers) are glad and grateful that Jollibee put up an outlet in Calumpang.By the way,the store opens at 6 am. to 10 pm.
